Where we've been

A little background about us, especially for those who are just joining our journey and need a quick 'catch up'.

Clarence and I (Anna) both went to Black Forest Academy (BFA) after graduating from college.  I went in 2002 and Clarence went in 2003, both to serve as Resident Assistants in the dorm.  So BFA in Germany is where we met, dated, got engaged, etc.  We left there in 2005, got married, and then moved to Toronto where Clarence has been working as a Youth Pastor at North York Chinese Baptist Church.  Honestly, neither of us ever expected to be working/attending a Chinese church, but we have found a wonderful church family here including great friends who care for us and our children.  Austin was born July 29, 2007 and Silas was born January 16, 2010.

We always said that we would like to go back to BFA, someday.  Last summer an opportunity was presented to us to possibly return for a short-term position for a few months while working out details with some incoming staff members.   The opportunity ended up falling through, but we definitely felt this was God's way to nudging us and asking us if we were really serious about returning to BFA.  So, we began the application process last fall (2011), exploring various options and timelines of what would be a good fit for our family.  After lots and lots of prayer and discussions, Clarence has accepted the position as Middle School Chaplain, starting in the fall of 2012.  I will primarily be staying at home to care for the kids, and probably finding lots of other things to fill my time.  We both really excited about this chance to serve God in a new way and return to Germany.  More details on that in the next post . . .

A hop, skip and a jump...

This is our family.  Anna, Austin, Clarence and Silas.  Together we are embarking on a journey that we thought would happen later in life, but God had some different plans for us.  In August 2012 we will be travelling to the Black Forest located in Germany to serve missionary students at Black Forest Academy.  So maybe it's not quite a hop, skip and a jump, but definitely it will be a huge leap of faith as we follow the Lord and his calling.  We invite you to enter The Yau Zone and join us as we follow God together in this chapter of our lives.
